7 Ways to Celebrate Women’s History Month in 2023

Women’s History Month is a time to honor and celebrate the legacy of women from our past, recognizing leaders in our present, and paving the way for girls of the future. Women have come so far in history from fighting for the right to vote. We’ve shook the world and have fought to be seen. This March, Boss Babe Networking is challenging you to do MORE in honor of Women’s History Month.

Here are several ways you can support women this March:

1. Support Local Women Owned Businesses

When you support a woman owned business you support her dream, her family, and her future. Next time you think about shopping at Target for your new haul of candles, consider shopping local for your scented favorites with women owned businesses like The Broom Circle or Mountainside Woodwick Candles.

2. Work With Boss Babes (literally).

Need a Realtor? Hire Doris Rivera-Black. Looking for a woman owned catering company? Try Luchal’s. Want to dive into the real estate industry and learn how to wholesale, flip, or short term rental? Gabrielle Simmons is one of the leading real estate professionals in Colorado. Want to hire a Boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs? Lea Flores with with The Boudoir Suite is our number one pick. How about nonprofit consulting? Check out The Nonprofit Makeover. In short, hire women! Your investment into women-owned businesses creates a positive impact in our economy.

3. Invest in a Woman Owned Business

“According to Kauffman Foundation statistics that were cited in Forbes, private technology companies led by women are more capital-efficient, achieving 35% higher ROI, and, when venture-backed generate 12% higher revenue than startups run by men. Plus, startups founded and cofounded by women perform better over time, generating 10% more in cumulative revenue over a five-year period. According to MSCI ESG Research, companies in the MSCI World Index with strong women leadership generated a return on equity of 10.1% per year versus 7.4% for those without strong women leadership.” — Clara Moses, Hydrate Marketing

4. Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th

Boss Babe Networking is turning up the heat at their headquarters in Colorado Springs. They’ve invited Lumpia Lhea’s and Sapo Gaupo, two women owned food trucks, performers, speakers, and the bossiest of boss babes to ring in International Women’s Day. Tickets are expected to sell out! Buy tickets here.

5. Support Her Artistry

Create space and pass her the microphone. She has things to say and people to inspire and needs your help to create safe spaces to feel welcome and heard. Speaking of Safe Space, go stream “Safe Space” by ROZEN Lalas. When you support independent artists you give them an opportunity to pursue their dreams. Buy those concert tickets or a t-shirt, subscribe to an artists Patreon, and buy their art. #SupportTheArts

6. Read Stories By Women

Head to the bookstore right now and go buy a new book written by a woman or better yet — a collection of women. More than a dozen women came together to co-write, “Uncovering The Brave Within,” including Nilaja Montgomery and Jules Thompson. Authors write to express themselves and to inspire and connect with their readers. For a fun challenge, we dare you to go to a local book store and find a few new reads to dive into this month.

7. Join a Networking Community

If you haven’t heard of Boss Babe Networking, you’re going to need to stop what you’re doing and tune into this. BBN is a community for women to share their stories and network. From Women Empowerment Tropical Retreats to Social Media Content — BBN offers women a place to be seen, heard, and understood. This BIPOC woman-owned business is committed to giving ALL womxn a voice. Join their online community here.
