(Colorado Springs, CO) More than a half of a million people have been stranded this holiday week courtesy of the airline industry. Southwest Airlines had the highest numbers of reported cancellations compared to any other airline. Airports across the country are still filled with unhappy, frustrated, and tired passengers eager to see their families.

TerryJosiah and Kristen Faith Sharpe, organizers of this Year’s Night of Magnificence New Years Eve Celebration anticipated the warm arrival of their four children coming in from El Paso and Odessa, Texas. “The holidays are our favorite time of the year because we get to spend undivided time together — as a family. We were really excited to ring in this New Year until last night at 12:38am when I received a text that read, “SWA Flight 3080 on Dec 28 from ELP is canceled” says Kristen Faith, CEO of Boss Babe Networking.

Southwest phone lines have been busy all week and the soonest online rebooking options were in January.

According to NPR, Southwest airlines canceled more than 5,400 flights in less than 48 hours. One of those passengers being Quron Witherspoon, Air Force Veteran and Los Angeles’ number one behind the scenes videographer for top celebrities like Tyrese, Michael B. Jordan, and Zoe Saldana. Witherspoon found himself driving more than 9 hours to Colorado Springs from Omaha, Nebraska after being stranded from canceled flights. Witherspoon was on a mission to get to Colorado Springs to perform for the Inaugural Night of Magnificence New Years Show – nothing was bound to stop him.

The unfortunate change of travel plans for many families have many more Colorado residents scrambling to find local New Year's Eve plans.
