Balancing Life as a Mother & Entrepreneur - Moni’s Story

March is Women’s History Month — a time to celebrate the resilience and victories of women everywhere. Boss Babe Networking empowers women to share their story and provides an outlet for their voices to be heard.

One woman’s story that continues to inspire us is Moni Hernandez. We invited her to share her heart with our readers and this is what she said.

Entreprenuership takes dedication, resilience and belief in yourself.

Let’s start with an introduction. Tell us about yourself. Feel free to share your business, your life’s mission, and what brings you joy.

My name is Moni Hernandez. I am the mother of three beautiful girls and I raised my youngest brother. I am the owner and founder of Viva Marketing and Consulting, Fiestas Patrias and Meet Me in The Park Concert Series. I am a board member of The Latina Equity Foundation, Thrive Network, Centro De La Familia, RISE Southeast and I am a part of Pikes Peak Women, Criando Alianzas. As you can see, I like to serve and my mission in life is to serve others.

“Am I going to sit here and feel sorry for myself or am I going to do something about it?”

Here at Boss Babe Networking, we’re all about sharing women’s stories. Tell us about a time you had to overcome an obstacle? What did that moment in your life teach you?

During covid I went through an ugly divorce. I did not have a job. I had to move back into my parents home and I had to start life all over again from the bottom. I asked told myself, “Am I going to sit here and feel sorry for myself or am I going to do something about it?” I then decided to start my own business and that is when VIVA Marketing and Consulting was born. That was in 2021.

What do you believe is the biggest challenge women in business face?

I will have to speak for the moms. Running a business, staying on top of the home, taking care of the children and or husband if you have one, are all separate jobs where we wear separate hats. It's not impossible but it is challenging.

What did the younger version of you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a nurse but then as a teen I wanted to get into business.

What advice would you give Women in Business?

It takes dedication, resilience and believing in yourself. There are days that are better than others and it's in those other days that we have believed in ourselves the most.
